Here we are, at last!

After months of delving back into the editorial revision and re-design trenches for this beloved story, the (first) finish line is in sight. The Second Editions for Kin Seeker and The Beacon Thrones are on the verge of launching out into the wide world.

Cue the drumroll and applause for the reveal of the official paperback covers!

I also created new logo designs for the series:

These second editions aren’t just a fresh set of cover designs. They’ve also had full content revisions to better reflect my current voice and skill as a writer, and as part of a re-sweep through the story to enhance world-building elements and tighten plot threads woven throughout all five books.

Some changes found in these Second Editions include:

• Revised written content (improving sensory descriptions, trimming excessive use of character names, cutting down and changing “echo” words, sticky paragraphs, redundant phrases, and sentences heavily structured with “of”s). Also included are some brand new scenes!
• Enhanced world-building elements (which include adding more unique lexicons, improving character voice, simplifying the rough dialogue of the hobgoblins, adding cultural idioms and jargon).
• Added Chapter Banner Designs for a bit more artistic flourish.
• Swapped out the old line map for a double-spread map with much more detail.
• Added the new logos to the front content pages.
• Larger font size and book size

The story plots and character arcs remain intact and largely unaltered. This project was aimed more at giving the story a fresh wind beneath its wings and to implement the advantages hindsight has provided. The original editions of the first two books, especially, were written while I was still honing my writing skills, and with many plot threads and events that were unknown to me at the time (as is the case when one is only part-way through writing a series). But with the whole story now complete and settled, and my prose prowess improved over the past decade, crafting fabulous new second editions seemed like the perfect (and just daring/ challening enough) campaign to undertake for this year (and the next, it seems, as I still have three more books to go!).
